I am and always have been a big Joan Jett fan.
Back in the 80’s I saw her play a few times and because I was in the right crowd at the time I even got to party with her a couple times … or maybe I should say that I partied at parties she was partying at. Got to see that other side so to speak…. and I stayed a fan.

The last time i saw her was in 2004. It was a small show at a casino in WA state… It was pretty cool show – she still can rock. Her hotel room was just under mine. No parties that night.

When I heard they are making a about the Runaways I was pleased to say the least… then I heard that Kristen Stewart was to play Joan Jett.
WTF!
The Twilight girl is playing Joan Jett?

Please understand that I am no Twilight fan.
Port Angeles WA is my home town and the way the movie portrayed our area was so annoying I couldn’t see past the stupidity to enjoy the film.
Plus … the movie made me think that the producers of Twilight are prejudice against Native Americans and Hispanics.
If you have never been to the west end of WA you wont understand why that is, but just to give you an idea…. Forks WA is mostly Whites, Mexicans and Natives.
Notice that only the whites showed up in the film. Oh… excuse me.. they have Native werewolves. Umm… o.k., but those are not the kind of Natives that live in the NW. They imported the Twilight natives from some way different place.
I’m gonna stop now. I can rant forever about that movie and how little it had to do with anything that resembles Forks or people from Forks. I am just glad they had so little in the movie about Port Angeles.

O.k… now that I am done with that.
I finally saw some pictures of Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett.
Wow… she really looks the part.
Dress her up in a Joan Jett costume and she seems pretty sexy.
Black leather can do that to the right kind of girl.

So.. I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt until I see the movie.
Who knows… maybe she will make a fan outa me.

On that note: I really hope to see some girls dressed up for Halloween this year as Joan Jett.
Or better yet… a group of girls done up in costume as the The Runaways.
It’s a good excuse to get a little bit hardcore with the retro fun and lipstick.
Everybody loves retro costumes and certain people love punk… so – I hope I have given you your Halloween costume idea.

I had been planning to do a whole post on the old sci-fi movie Saturn 3, but beauty icon Farrah Fawcett would have been the center of that and since she just past away I just wasn’t into it.
Farrah was a huge movie star and model who stole the hearts of millions over the years.
Her early work included many sci-fi roles and modeling assignment = she was big into the costumes in those years.
She will be missed.

I should have posted this a few days ago… but I was being lazy.

Lady Gaga is pretty well known for her costumes.. ranging from funny to sexy, and often just plain bizarre.

I would put this costume in the sexy category myself, but I suppose that is very much a matter of taste and many would disagree do to the abundant amount of hard metal and the lack of soft silky touch me type material.

Lady Gaga in her recent performance at the MuchMusic Video Awards did an awesome job.
It was very much something I would have expected from Madonna however so no props on originality, but lots of props on the performance.
Plus… I don’t think having your act compared to Madonna is a bad thing in the pop music world. Madonna has conquered it to the extreme.

The show was good and so was the costume… but surprise…
Sparks came shooting from her breasts at the end of the act!
For some reason it reminded me of something from the Austin Powers movies.
Very Fembot.

Anyways… it was cool. Coulda been cooler if it was a bit more… but still – it was cool.

The boots are what give this costume power. Take away the boots and it would change the whole look.

The 4th is fast approaching and that means fireworks, barbecues, beer, wine, parties and …fun – fun – fun!

So far i have only been invited to one shindig and luckily for me it was a semi-costume party.
Yep… it’s an almost costume required shindig.
The theme is Red, White, and Blue or Stars and Stripes… costumes encouraged.
So people are to dress accordingly, but not necessarily in costumes.
If I am able to attend (I don’t know yet) I think I shall just go with black slacks and a red white and blue – star spangled vest. No shirt of course as I think it will be warm and it is a rare thing to be able to dress in such a manner in Wa state.
I will most likely arrive with a star spangled Uncle Sam top hat to complete my ensemble, but usually such things as that are lost after one or two glasses of wine if you happen to be me… so i don’t really consider it part of my permanent party attire.

So with that all said…
I spent some time surfing around looking for what I was to call my favorite racy 4th of July costume and I found…. less than I desired.
So, no favorite, but i did find a few liked.
First on my list is this
Firecracker costume.

This sexy costume was kind my favorite.
With a corset style peasant dress look all in red, white and blue it is very patriotic and charming. The satiny white bust and off the shoulder sleeves make it have a naughty and nice look while the apron and skirt say…” come on over, I’m sweet and I won’t bite ”
The ruffled trim so rarely included in a costume is included in this one and so is that cute matching headpiece you see.
The Sexy Firecracker costume is all new for 2009.

Next up we have the
Aunt Samantha costume

This costume really wasn’t a fave of mine, but I included it because it is… well…
It’s about as 4th of July as you can get in a costume.
A shimmering sequin halter style dress with a blue and silver top and a red and white striped skirt create a great 4th of July image. It comes with a red, white, and blue star and stripes mini top hat for you to lose after a few glasses of wine (oh wait… that’s me that does that)
What is cool about this costume is it is sexy and shows of those nice legs you have earned this spring on the treadmill… yet it is also just tame enough that it can be worn at pretty much any , but the most lame of parties.
In other words … It is more patriotic looking than sexy, yet still sexy enough to make everybody say “wow!”

Our third costume is included because I just friggin liked it and it almost fit…

It doesn’t really fit the stars and stripes theme… but it is patriotic, so I am including it here for the heck of it.

O.k.
Now, my favorite 4th of July costume wasn’t actually a 4th of July costume.
However – if you ditch the hat, or replace it with a different more suiting one it not only makes a great sexy 4th of July costume…. It makes a great – no, stupendous, no awesomely amazing … umm… you get what I saying. It’s pretty darn good!
So, Here it is.
The Ahoy Matey costume.

I really love this costume.
Red, white and blue… and as cute as a costume can get.
Sheer puff sleeves, delicate trim and sequined accents on the red, white and blue satiny dress come together perfectly. The white petticoat is attached and even though I am recommending this costume to be used as a 4th of July outfit without the hat… the hat is pretty cute too, so keep it around for some other time.

It’s wedding season. That means it is also honeymoon season and anniversary season.
People get married all year round to be sure, but this is the time of year that I seem to get the most wedding invites… so I assume this is the time most people are doing it.

So for all you soon to be on a honeymoon types and all you about to have an anniversary people…
